The United States has expressed grave concern over the upcoming elections in Ethiopia on the 21st of this month and called on politicians and various groups to refrain from violence in the country.
“The division of the region and parts of Ethiopia is a threat to territorial integrity. “Even during the election, it will be important for Ethiopians to come together to overcome divisions,” said State Department spokesman Ned Price.
Reports say two regions, including the Somali one, have been postponed for their September 6th elections.
Ethiopia’s elections, scheduled for August last year, have been postponed by Prime Minister Abi Ahmed for a year.
