Galmudug state president Ahmed Abdi Kariye and a delegation led by him arrived in Mogadishu this afternoon.
Ahmed Abdi Kariye, the President of Galmudug and his delegation were warmly welcomed at Aden Abdulle International Airport by officials from the Benadir regional administration, members of the cabinet of the Federal Government of Somalia and the two houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia and other officials.
The purpose of the Galmudug President’s visit to Mogadishu is to attend a meeting of the National Consultative Council.
Government spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Nur said the conference will open at Afisone police station on Saturday (August 21st) with the participation of Heads of State and the Governor of Benadir Region.
The presidents of South West, Hir Shabelle and Galmudug states are currently in Mogadishu, and the other presidents of Puntland and Jubbaland are expected to arrive in Mogadishu.
The meeting, which will be chaired by Prime Minister Roble, will focus on preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections, the preparation of election procedures, finding funding for the unresolved elections and how to move forward.
