The Minister of Education of Somaliland, Ahmed Mohamed Diriye, met with the Minister of Education of Kenya, Prof. George Albert Magoha.
The Minister was accompanied by the Director General of the Somaliland Ministry of Education, the Administrative Director of the Ministry and the Deputy Ambassador of Somaliland to Kenya Sharmake Guelleh.
The meeting was also attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Education.
The two ministers discussed the educational relationship between Somaliland and Kenya.
This is the first time a Somaliland education minister has met with his Kenyan counterpart.
On the other hand, the Minister of Education of Somaliland and the delegation led by him, during their stay in Nairobi met with the leaders of the European Union (EU).
They discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, increasing funding for education in Somaliland and preparing education development projects based on the 2022-2026 Education Development Plan.
The Minister’s delegation also met with Adam Smith International, and signed an EU-funded technical agreement to enhance the Ministry’s service to the community and the overall development of education in Somaliland.
The Minister’s delegation also met with the Finnish Embassy in Nairobi and USAID, and discussed increasing funding for education in Somaliland.
