Chief of Police Gen. Abdi Hassan Hijar today met with senior police officers and commanders in Mogadishu
Jen. Hijar spoke with officials he met about strengthening security in the capital Mogadishu and preventing acts of insecurity.
He called on the police not to get involved in political disputes between senior government officials and not to get involved in elections.
The commander’s remarks came as Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble fired NISA Director Fahad Yassin over the Ikraan Tahliil assassination case.
However, the resignation was rejected by the outgoing President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, and resulted in a stalemate and political crisis in the country that has yet to be resolved.
