The interim director of NISA, who was recently appointed by the Prime Minister of Somalia, Brigadier General Bashir Goobe, has appointed Muhidin Mohamed Jim’ale (Warbac) as the new director of security in the Benadir region.
The post was previously held by Yassin Farey, although Farmajo later said he had been appointed director of NISA. Bashir Goobe’s letter did not mention Yassin Farey.
A letter of appointment from the Interim Director of NISA instructed all directors of the National Security and Intelligence Agency to carry out their respective duties.
“In the interest of national service, effective today, 15.09.2021, I have appointed Chief of Staff: Muhidin Mohamed Jim’ale (Warbac) as the Director of the National Security Agency in the capital,” the letter said.
Finally, the Interim Director of NISA, General Bashir Goobe wished the new officer success and good work.
The move comes amid tensions over the appointment of a new NISA director, following the removal of former prime minister Fahad Yassin, a close ally of the outgoing president.
