Abdullahi Ali Ahmed Wafow, the chairman of Marka town and the chairman of the security committee for Lower Shabelle region, held a meeting with senior AMISOM officials in Onton area and Somali National Army officers.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Chairman and Commander of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) Maj Godfrey rwija and focused on security in Marka and other areas.
The meeting was attended by senior government military officials including the October 14th emergency response, military officers on foot and local security officers.
During the meeting, they discussed the security situation in the area, how to deal with it and how to carry out operations against Al-Shabaab.
Governor Wafow and Commander Rwija listened to the security officials and provided them with security information and tactics for the upcoming operations.
Maj. Godfrey Rwija urged the troops to restore order in Somalia and to expel Al-Shabaab from their strongholds in the Lower Shabelle region.
Abdullahi Ali Ahmed Wafow, the chairman of Marka town and the chairman of the security committee for the lower Shabelle region, said that if efforts are not made, there will be disintegration and that the people who are guaranteed security will fail in that responsibility.
Marka and its environs have been the scene of sporadic attacks and bombings targeting Somali government and AMISOM forces.
