Belet Xaawo district in Gedo region A meeting was held with the officials and deputies of the Gedo regional forces in the district administration to discuss border security and the violence that took place on the outskirts of Beled-Hawa district.

Violence erupted between Somali government forces in Gedo region and Kenyan forces after Kenyan forces killed a civilian who was leaving Bed-hawo district for Mandera town.

The meeting was attended by Nisa Regional Commander Abdurahman Abdullahi Aden Bakal Kooke, Commander of the Regional Corrections Force, Colonel Ali Mohamed Omar, Commander of the 27th Battalion and Acting Commander of the 10th Battalion Gashanle Hussein Mohamed Ali Hidig. spoke to increase and strengthen security to reduce border crossings in Belet Xaawo District in Gedo Region.

The meeting was attended by local officials from Belet Xaawo district and the security situation in Belet Xaawo district and the lower border areas of Mandera town.

Senior officials have ordered the troops to tighten security in Beled-hawo district and its borders, and not to allow the Somali people to be harassed between the towns of Beled-hawo and Mandera.

On several occasions, Somali government forces have been deployed in Gedo and Kenya, and there have been skirmishes on the border with Beled-Hawo, causing casualties.
