Kenyan warplanes strike Gedo region


Kenyan warplanes have carried out heavy airstrikes in Elwaq district in Gedo region this morning, causing casualties.

Residents in villages under the control of Elwaq district said that the shelling started in the early hours of this morning, and the area was inhabited by nomadic pastoralists.

Reports indicate that the shelling injured civilians as well as destroyed livestock belonging to nomads.

This week marks the third time Kenyan forces have carried out airstrikes in areas under the control of Elwak district, and there is still no word from the district security agencies and the Federal Government of Somalia.
