The Special Forces of the Somali National Army (SNA) have again launched a major operation in the last few hours in villages near Janale area in Marka, the capital of Lower Shabelle region.
The operation, led by officers from the Somali National Army and the Janale district administration, took control of the villages, Kaaytooy, Mushani, Doonka, Waagade and Kabta, all near Janale in the Lower Shabelle region.
The commander of the specially trained forces of the Somali National Army Abdullahi Mustafe (Madaale Qaran) said that the government forces will not withdraw from the areas they have taken over and will ensure security.
He also said that the forces and the administration of Janale district are ready to take over other areas in Lower Shabelle from Al-Shabaab.
Janale district commissioner Abdirahman Abdinur Al-Adala speaking to the local community thanked the Somali National Army and the local community for their cooperation in taking over the villages.
Lastly, the district commissioner of Janale called on the youths who are still members of Al-Shabaab to surrender to the Somali government forces and they will restore the progress that has been made.
Most of the Somali government forces carry out various operations in areas and districts of Lower Shabelle region, but sometimes come under attack from Al-Shabaab.
