The first city to hold parliamentary elections has been announced


Barawe district in Lower Shabelle region is currently preparing to hold elections for the lower house of parliament.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble was accompanied by members of the Federal Electoral Commission.

Chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission Mohamed Hassan Irro said the plan is for the city of Barawe, the capital of the South West, to be the first venue for Parliamentary elections.

He said the purpose of their visit was to assess the election & security situation, and that they had experienced something different from what they expected.

Finally, the Chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission, Mohamed Hassan Irro, said that they had inspected the polling stations where the members were staying and were satisfied with their security.
