Saudi Arabia names ambassador to Somalia

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has appointed a new ambassador to Somalia.

Ambassador Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Mawlud will be the first ambassador to Mogadishu in 30 years.

The Saudi king has sworn in the ambassador as a visionary.

A delegation from the Saudi Foreign Ministry visited Mogadishu last month to study the possibility of opening a Saudi Arabian embassy in Somalia.

The trip was part of Riyadh’s plans to expand its diplomatic network in the Horn of Africa.
