Somali-owned businesses set on fire in South Africa

South African gangs have set fire to foreign and Somali-owned businesses on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

Witnesses confirmed that three shops had been set on fire, two of them owned by Somalis in Kwazakhele village, while the third was in Zwide, according to police spokesman Col Priscilla Naidu.

The incident follows a clash between taxi drivers and Somalis in Korsten yesterday afternoon, in which more than 10 vehicles were set on fire.

In South Africa, year after year, foreigners are being harassed, and Somali businessmen are being killed and their property looted.
